TROPFEST, the world’s largest short film festival, announced the sixteen short films that will be finalists at this year’s New York festival on June 22, 2013 in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park. The finalist films were each made specifically for Tropfest NY and follow the format guidelines, including incorporating the ‘Tropfest Signature Item’ (TSI). This year’s TSI is ‘Bridge’ which can be interpreted in any way the filmmaker chooses. Filmmakers will have their films seen before a massive live audience and the winner of the competition will received $20,000, as well as a ‘week of meetings’ with notable executives and producers courtesy of the Motion Picture Association. Ten of this year’s finalists are New York City- based while the other six finalists submitted their entries from South Africa, Australia, Canada, and Los Angeles.
The sixteen finalists doubles the number of finalist films from last year’s Tropfest NY, which reflects the significant increase in filmmaker entries and growing popularity of the festival.
The festival will be free and open to the public, however reservations are recommended – HERE
