6th Annual Gotham Screen International Film Festival Now Accepting Submissions

The 6th Annual Gotham Screen International Film Festival will take place in downtown Manhattan at the Quad Cinema from October 4th-14th, 2012 along with after parties taking place at the Tribeca Grand in Tribeca, New York.

GOTHAM SCREEN presents fresh voices and perspectives from local, national and international filmmakers. The mission of the festival is to create a positive industry and audience exposure for works that would not otherwise easily get seen, and give New Yorkers a chance to see fresh, undiscovered cinema from around the U.S. and the world.

This festival showcases cutting-edge feature, documentary and short films from independent, first or second-time directors as well as international releases making their East Coast or U.S. debut. It connects overlooked US and international films with  the aim of boosting both the films’ and the filmmakers’ profiles in what has become an increasingly overloaded marketplace.

It has a proven track record of industry executives attending the festival and several films have found distribution or sales representation after being seen at GOTHAM SCREEN.

Tate Taylor, Director and Screenwriter of the Academy Award nominated film The Help made his premiere at The Gotham Screen International Film Festival with the film Pretty Ugly People (2008), which starred Academy Award Winning Actress Octavia Spencer, Academy Award Nominated Actress Melissa McCarthy and Missi Pyle, who played Constance in the Academy Award Winning Best Picture film The Artist.

Also, before he was best known for his role as Edward, in the Twilight Franchise, Robert Pattinson starred in How to Be, which made its US premiere at GOTHAM SCREEN. How to Be attracted the attention of several industry executives at the festival and was subsequently picked up by IFC as domestic distributors.
