Having just received the Grand Jury Documentary Prize at Sundance last week, ‘Last Men in Aleppo’ will now open the 2017 CPH:DOX Documentary Festival.
The 15 March screening marks the European Premiere of the acclaimed documentary, as CPH:DOX brings its 14th lineup across Denmark. The date also marks exactly 6 years since the Syrian revolution started, and ‘Last Men in Aleppo’ stands as ”testimony of that which we as a world community has an indisputable responsibility for”, festival director Tine Fischer says.
Directed by Syrian filmmaker Feras Fayyad, ‘Last Men in Aleppo’ gives an intimate look at the daily life of those who chose not to run from the war. Through members of the rescue group ’White Helmets’ the film gets up close to the life, death and the daily battles of the civilians in the besieged city.
