Digital entertainment curator FilmBuff announced that they will release the hilarious and poignant family drama ‘Cold Turkey‘ in theaters and on VOD on November 15, 2013. FilmBuff will release ‘Cold Turkey’ in theaters in New York and LA, expanding to other markets as well as across all leading Video On Demand platforms in the U.S. and Canada on November 15 including iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, Cable Movies On Demand, Google Play, Xbox Video, Sony Playstation and Vudu.
Directed by first-time helmer, Will Slocombe, the film is a riveting and humorous portrait of a family that is (hopefully) more messed up than yours, starring Oscar®-nominee Peter Bogdanovich (The Last Picture Show), Cheryl Hines (“Curb Your Enthusiasm”), Alicia Witt (“Friday Night Lights”), Sonya Walger (“Lost”), Ashton Holmes (“Revenge”), Wilson Bethel (“Heart of Dixie”) and Victoria Tennant (L.A. Story).
Thanksgiving get-together for the eccentric Turner clan goes from bad to worse when estranged daughter Nina (Witt) makes a surprise visit home for the first time in 15 years. Nina clashes with her stepmother Deborah (Hines), and sister, Lindsay (Walger), while half-brother Jacob (Holmes) tries to keep a massive gambling debt a secret. Meanwhile, family patriarch Poppy (Bogdanovich) has his own dramatic news to share. Cold Turkey is a black comedy about how – despite our best efforts – we all eventually turn into our parents.
‘Cold Turkey’ had its world premiere at the 2013 Sarasota Film Festival and has since screened at the Newport Beach International Film Festival and the Nantucket Film Festival. Upcoming festival screenings include: the Woodstock Film Festival, where Peter Bogdanovich will receive the honorary Maverick Lifetime Achievement Award, the Starz Denver Film Festival and the Hawaii International Film Festival.
