Jared Leto’s Thirty Seconds to Mars Documentary ‘Artifact’ Gets VOD Release

Digital entertainment curator FilmBuff announced that it will release the award-winning documentary ARTIFACT, about the grueling struggle between Jared Leto’s celebrated band Thirty Seconds to Mars and their record label across all leading VOD platforms. Beginning December 3, 2013, the film will be available on all leading broadband Video On Demand platforms including iTunes (Pre Order), Amazon Instant Video, Google Play, Xbox Video, Sony Playstation, Cinemanow and Vudu.

Telling harsh truths about the modern music business, this riveting documentary gives intimate access to singer/actor Jared Leto (Requiem for a Dream, Dallas Buyers Club) and his band Thirty Seconds to Mars as they fight a relentless lawsuit with record label Virgin/EMI and write songs for their album This Is War. Opening up his life for the camera during months of excruciating pressures, Leto reveals the struggles his band must face over questions of art, money and integrity.

ARTIFACT was directed by Bartholomew Cubbins (a longtime directing pseudonym for Leto) and produced by Jared Leto and Emma Ludbrook. In addition to Jared Leto, the film also features Shannon Leto (Thirty Seconds to Mars) and Tomo Milicevic (Thirty Seconds to Mars), Chester Bennington (Linkin Park), Amanda Palmer, Brandon Boyd (Incubus), Kenna, D.A. Wallach (Chester French), Serj Tankian (System of a Down), Damian Kulash (OK Go), Bob Lefsetz, Daniel Levitin, and Irving Azoff.

The film had its World Premiere at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival where it won Blackberry’s People’s Choice Documentary Award. It then went on to play at DOC NYC and SXSW. The film also won the Audience Award at the 2012 Gotham Independent Film Awards.
